Tshintsha Guluva who are looking forward to rejoining the elite league, lead the Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League with 24 points from 10 games.
Bantu Rovers have a number of players with Premiership experience who include player/coach Johannes Ngodzo, Kevin “Skopo” Sibanda, the Moyo twins Elvis and Kelvin, Marvellous Nakamba and Nqobizitha Masuku.
Sibanda who was with Zimbabwe Saints last season said they were not taking their game against Emakhandeni Pirates lightly because they want to play in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League next season.
“We have only played a third of the league games and the truth is every player wants to play in the Premiership and we are going to fight hard for that. We hope to continue getting positive results and consolidate our championship hopes.
“Obviously since we are at the top of the log, we are now the team to beat. We respect Emakhandeni Pirates and they should come knowing very well that we are ready for war,” said Sibanda.
Emakhandeni Pirates are fourth from the bottom with just eight points. Faced with a possibility of being relegated at the end of the season, Emakhandeni Pirates might be a tricky customer for their opponents.
Second on the log How Mine, who are a point behind Bantu Rovers having played the same number of games, are at home to relegation threatened Rufaro Rovers who have six points from eight games.
Another exciting fixture is on the cards in Tsholotsho this afternoon when Tsholotsho Pirates play Railstars as both teams are tied at 16 points.
Both teams will be hoping to collect maximum points.
Struggling former giants Zimbabwe Saints will be away to Black Boots at Fairbridge.
Chikwata have lost six matches out of their nine matches and their championship hopes have all but faded as they trail Bantu Rovers by 15 points.
In the past weeks there were also reports that players were deserting Zimbabwe Saints.
“We have managed to talk to some of the boys and they are back. Everyone is looking forward to the game and we hope to get a positive result this time around.
“Things have not been going our way of late but I believe that phase will come to pass,” said Zimbabwe Saints coach Edmore Sibanda.
Zimbabwe Saints have been banking on veterans Chipo Tsodzo and Tapela Ngwenya to lead the team in search of results.
