The two teams are coached by first team coach Ruben Tsengwa and former Highlanders and national team midfield maestro, Johannes “Tshisa” Ngodzo.
Methembe Ndlovu’s Under-18 boys also did commendably well, coming second to Chicken Inn with 67 points, eight points behind the winners and five ahead of third placed Highlanders, who are coached by Siphatho Ncube.
Wilbert Sibanda, Bantu Rovers secretary and spokesman, commended the youngsters as well as their technical staff for a job well done.
“It has been our policy to have a deliberate bias towards juniors and what the boys have done confirms that we are on the right track,” said Sibanda.
He said the motivation for the boys has been promotion into the next age group or even the first team hence competition for a starting place has been stiff.
Sibanda also heaped praises on the junior league management, led by chairman Mkhululi Mthunzi who made sure the league ran smoothly.
“I must really commend the guys that ran the league for us for their professionalism and without speaking for other teams, we never came across any age cheating as Bantu Rovers,” said the secretary general.
Sibanda said as is the norm, his team will have an end of year get together for the whole Bantu Rovers family to reflect on the just ended season and to look forward to the year ahead.
