BANTU Rovers promised to be professional and did just that as they handed Chapungu their first home defeat of the season at Ascot yesterday.
The visitors, who have been relegated got their goals from Zephania Ngodzo, Goodwill Moraka, and Nqobizitha Masuku.
Blessing Zabula and Charles Murisa scored for the hosts.
Six minutes later, Bantu had their goal disallowed after Chapungu goalkeeper Polite Sibanda was fouled while trying to intercept a free kick by Obadiah Tarumbwa.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 56th minute when Ngodzo capitalised on a defensive error and fired home from close range.
Tshintsha Guluva doubled their advantage two minutes later when Tarumbwa flighted a cross into the box to find an unmarked Moraka who headed home from close range.
Chapungu reduced the arrears in the 68th minute through Zabula and they levelled in the 72nd minute after Master Mulangeni had brought down Phillip Marufu inside the box.
But with six minutes from time Masuku converted a penalty for the winner.
“We lost through complacence,” said Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino.
“Our players must have underestimated Bantu Rover, especially after holding Dynamos. I am also not happy with the way the officials handled the match. “
Bantu Rovers coach, Mandla Mpofu, praised his charges.
“We are not playing under pressure considering that we have already been relegated. We kept possession from the onset and we were totally in charge,” said Mpofu
