BANTU Rovers’ striker Obriel Chirinda has joined South African National First Division side Ubuntu Cape Town FC after penning a three-year               deal.

The 20-year-old striker left the country for his new base on Friday.

Chirinda will link up with Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leading goal scorer Bukhosi “Zakhu” Sibanda, who joined the same side a week  ago.

Chirinda sneaked out of the country a fortnight ago for trials at the ambitious Cape Town side, which is making its debut in the NFD, and impressed the club’s coaches.

Rovers’ general manager Wilbert Sibanda confirmed Chirinda’s deal and said the transfer conditions are the same as those for Bukhosi.

“Obriel (Chirinda) has joined Ubuntu Cape Town FC and signed a three-year deal.

“He impressed them at the trials he attended at the beginning of the month.

“His last game for us was against Dynamos, which we lost 2-0 in Harare.

“Just like Bukhosi, we believe he will get better exposure at Ubuntu Cape Town FC.

“He is a hard worker and we have no doubt that he will improve his career and probably move within the next year.

“We wish him well at Ubuntu Cape Town and hopefully their moves to South Africa will inspire youngsters at our club,” said Sibanda.

Chirinda was part of the Rovers’ squad that won the 2016 Southern Region Division One League title and a direct ticket into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. — @ZililoR
