THE Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA) has announced a US$1,000 reward for information leading to the identification and location of a man seen mutilating and killing a puppy in a video of a so-called ritual.

In a statement, the organisation said it had been inundated with reports and public outcry following the circulation of this deeply distressing footage.

“The Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA) is appealing to the general public to help with the identification and location of an individual depicted in a disturbing video where he is seen brutally mutilating and killing a puppy as part of a so-called ritual. The video further shows this person, together with others, using the blood of the slain animal in what they claim to be a ‘healing’ ceremony. A reward of US$1,000 is being offered,” wrote the ZNSPCA.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

“As the national authority responsible for enforcing animal welfare law, ZNSPCA is outraged and horrified by this barbaric act of cruelty. We are committed to using every legal and investigative means available to ensure that this individual and any accomplices are identified, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement read.

Members of the public with information leading to the arrest of those involved are urged to contact the ZNSPCA immediately on:
