Baroka, Stars in stalemate

Baroka FC and Free State Stars played to a goalless draw in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday evening.

Baroka started with high pressure in the opening three minutes. A long ball up-field found Ranga Chivaviro who beat the offside trap only to miss the net by a whisker.

The first chance for Stars came after 12 minutes when Goodman Dlamini controlled at the back post to shoot into the side-netting.

However, the hosts were unfortunate not to have a penalty awarded in their favour after Mpho Kgaswane was brought down in the box front of the match officials on 14 minutes.

Bakgaga didn’t stop threatening. In the 26th minute, a shot from the right by Chivaviro forced Stars goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare to tip away for a corner.

From the corner, the Limpopo side missed consecutive chances to open the deadlock with Chivaviro firing straight at Sangare followed by Onkgebatsi Makgantai heading wide from close range.

Towards half-time, both sides were reduced to shots from range with neither goalkeeper being tested as all efforts flew well over the top.
