THE Harare Basketball League enters Week Two with the spotlight falling on Raiders and JBC as they clash today at Richwood Park.
Both teams won their opening matches last week and will be hoping to continue with their good run in what promises to be an exciting encounter in the A League.
Raiders coach, Martin Mukweva, said the win in their opening match of the season was a boost to the team.
“It’s going to be a tight game, we understand JBC are a very good side and we respect them but we will try and compete, we will give it our best.
“However, we have a team of small guys so we will be looking at playing a quick game. The win indeed boosted a lot of morale among the guys, it was good,” said Mukweva.
Mukweva said they are also expecting their women’s team to do well.
The Raiders women’s team have a date against JBC. In other matches, UZ Stars will take on Hustlers in what should be an interesting tie. First Mutual Life will take on Green Stars, a team made up mostly of Girls High School students who have been doing well since they joined the league a few years ago. HBA league spokesperson, Carlos Munda, said some of the clubs such as Vixens, Cameo Sikaale and Swagou will be playing their first matches this week after they completed registering last week.
