adminChirodzo and Chitsere primary schools in Mbare, Harare, became the first recipients of sports kits from the ambitious Mangoma Dream Project after winning various ball games.
The Mangoma Dream Project is an initiative by Pace Freights which was formed to revamp and develop sporting talent among primary and secondary school pupils.
On Thursday, Chitsere was presented with a netball kit and another set of uniforms for their girls’ soccer team while Chirodzo won the boys soccer category.
Speaking at the presentation, Chitsere deputy school headmaster Puwayi Masango said he was pleased that his school emerged as one of the
winners from a competition that attracted more than 14 schools from Mbare, Sunningdale and Hatfield.
Former Zimbabwe football great Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa, a former student from Chirodzo was one of the people who handed over the prizes to the schools alongside music promoter Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza while former Dynamos player Erick Aisam urged the students to take sports seriously and as a career.
Aisam, who is one of the co-ordinators of the Mangoma Project also paid tribute
to the teachers and parents who have been supportive of sports at schools. – The Herald.
