Bass guitar whizz-kid makes waves

Moyo who seems to be a genius bass guitarist in the making, plays with the newly formed Africa Super Sounds band.

The Plumtree-based band plays sungura music.

Moyo hails from the Linda area of Plumtree in Matabeleland South province. The talented youngster finished school last year and started playing his own makeshift wooden guitar.

The teenager said he developed the passion for playing the guitar at a young age and always dreamt of forming his own band upon leaving school.

However, that was not to be as he joined Africa Super Sounds, as a dancer early this year.

After it was noticed that he had talent for playing the bass guitar, his manager, Trust Moyo, later roped in the youngster to play the bass guitar.

Moyo said he always wanted to become a musician and used to idolise Chase Skuza and members of Mokis Connection who come from his home area.

“I started playing a makeshift wooden guitar when I was still at high school. I used to admire the likes of Chase Skuza and members of Mokis Connection and fortunately I was called by Africa Super Sounds’ band manager, Trust Moyo early this year to join them as a dancer. He later discovered that I was more talented in playing the bass guitar,” said the youngster.
