Bathroom essentials are must have

Home and Garden Writer
When you visit a friend’s flat or house for the first time and ask for “the tour”; the living room sparks a conversation about the high ceilings or any photos or unique items on display, the stove and dishwasher are the talked about amenities in the kitchen, the bed is the centrepiece of the bedroom, and the bathroom gets an “It’s over there” with a point in a general direction.

The only way a bathroom is shown off is if it was just remodelled, otherwise, a bathroom is a place that you go, but don’t talk about.

Whether it is your bathroom in your first “grown-up” apartment or you have recently moved and just want to start off on the right foot, there is a certain number of items that are just bathroom essentials.

Some might argue that not all of these items for bathroom essentials are actually completely essential for using the bathroom in your home as you can live without some of these things, but really, why would you want to?

The bathroom is an often neglected, or at the very least, last minute design area of the home, but can be something that makes a huge impact on guests.

Besides, you deserve a good-looking place to relax while getting ready for work or soaking in a bath after a long day.

Why not surround yourself with things you need (okay, maybe half things you need, half things you want)?

While the bathroom may be the least glamorous and most intimate room of the home, it is one that you are guaranteed to use with regularity.

So, make sure you have it well-stocked with the bathroom basics as soon as you move into your new home.

1: Shower curtain and liner. If your shower or tub is unsightly, go with an opaque curtain that moves easily for quick concealment. If your shower is somewhat presentable, consider a sheer curtain to let some light into the shower stall.

  1. 2. Toothbrush holder.
  2. 3. Trash can. It can be simple or funky.
  3. 4. Durable bath mat. These should be sturdy but plush. If your floor is unattractive, get one
  4. 5. Green cleaning supplies.
  5. 6. Innovative storage solutions. Look beyond the bath stores and consider bedside tables, mini book shelves and etageres with baskets for extra storage. And don’t forget the space behind the toilet! Look here for more storage ideas.
  6. Over-the-door hooks or funky wall hooks.
  7. Bath towels.
  8. Good nice-smelling soap.
  9. 10. Good lighting: If you can’t put in your own lighting, adjust the bulbs to get the softest, most-forgiving glow possible.
  10. 11. A nice mirror.
  11. 12. Hand towels. You can get creative with these. Install a looped towel hook so guests know to use the hand towel and not your bath towel! Or if you don’t want to drill into the walls, use a freestanding towel stand.
  12. Cleaning wipes for quick clean-up.
  13. A wire basket of rolled up hand towels and extra toilet paper for company or guests to use.
  14. Plunger and toilet bowl cleaner, both in storage caddy or container. These should be tucked behind the toilet or under the sink for use by an embarrassed, panicking guest. – https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/
