BULAWAYO City Council in partnership with Body Works Gym will host a two-day health awareness programme starting tomorrow at the Small City Hall.
Body Works Gym manager Donavan Ashborne said the event had initially been planned for council workers only, but was now open to members of the public.
“The programme starts tomorrow and we have prepared thoroughly for it. We will be starting our programmes on both days at 9am and ending at 6.30pm.
During the day we will be displaying our machines and demonstrating how they work. On both days at around 5pm, we will have Aerobics classes with different instructors taking participants through their paces,” said Ashborne.
“We will be educating people about the importance of having and maintaining healthy bodies. Many people think going to the gym is all about having muscles and looking big, but no, gym is all about fitness. We want to open the eyes of the public to see how the gym helps in curbing high blood pressure, strokes and heart attacks. So we want to showcase the importance of joining a gym.
“We will have some of our champions at the event. These are people that have won Mr and Miss Zimbabwe, the likes of Chantelle Greenland, Serina Manuel, Themba Lunga and Pardon Dube.”
Body Works Gym is one of the leading fitness centres in Bulawayo and the event is set to be educational and entertaining. Aerobics is the backbone of any gym and that is likely to be the crowd puller at the health awareness event.
