ALL perpetrators of illegal activities in the city centre ranging from informal trading on undesignated sites such as streets and pavements, washing cars, repairing vehicles and operators of heavy commercial vehicles have been ordered to stop by the Bulawayo City Council (BCC).
BCC said it will, with immediate effect, start conducting an exercise to remove all unauthorised activities so as to restore order and cleanliness in the city centre.
“The City of Bulawayo would like to inform all Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) stakeholders among other traders operating from undesignated areas to comply with the City of Bulawayo’s by-laws.
“All persons conducting unauthorized informal trading on undesignated sites in the city (on the streets, pavements, roadways) washing cars, repairing vehicles, commuter omnibuses and buses, deliveries on the streets, push carts and operators of heavy commercial vehicles in the central business district are requested to cease the illegal activities forthwith,” reads a notice from BCC.
Council said designated informal trading sites in the city centre and suburban areas that include Egodini Informal Trading and Bhaktas Site are available for all those who are interested in trading in Bulawayo.
“Any unauthorised trading will be dealt with in accordance with the city’s by-laws,”
