THE Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has invited bidders interested in occupying its business properties in the western suburbs and Kelvin North industrial site. The properties include closed shops, market stalls, unoccupied or surrendered factory shells, commercial and service industry stands. Acting town clerk Sikhangele Zhou yesterday said those interested should state the monthly rentals they propose to offer and the type of business they intend to venture into.
Some of the premises are suitable for businesses such as wood carving or carpentry, welding, firewood, storage, cycle repairs, hair salons, radio repairs, offices, fruit and vegetable and butchery operations. “Tenderers should state the shop, kiosk, factory shell, commercial or service industry they’re interested in by indicating the shop number, kiosk location, factory shell phase and number, commercial or service industry bay number and location,” said Zhou.
Potential entrepreneurs are also required to state the type of business they wish to conduct.
“Council reserves the right to accept or reject any bid whether high or low. Application forms or tender documents and conditions of lease are obtainable from 319, 3rd Floor, Tower Block upon payment of a non-refundable $10 excluding Value Added Tax,” she said, adding that no tenders would be accepted after the closing date on January 5, 2016.
Zhou indicated that the closed shops that were available for occupation are in Barbourfields, Mzilikazi, Mpopoma, Pelandaba, Makokoba, and Tshabalala while market stalls were available in Mabutweni, Barbourfields and Nguboyenja.
The kiosk is available at Stanley Square. Unoccupied or surrendered factory shells are available at Kelvin North Phase 1 while commercial and service industry stands are up for grabs in Mpopoma, Pumula East, Entumbane and Nkulumane.
Caravan sites are also at stake. Zhou said tenderers should be bonafide Bulawayo residents with a minimum of 15 years residence in the city. “Tenderers who will use one form for more than one item will be disqualified,” she said.
