Zanu PF Secretary General Advocate Jacob Mudenda has challenged the party’s provincial leadership to be ideologically grounded, politically conscious and organisationally coherent.
Speaking at the Zanu PF Harare Provincial outreach programme yesterday, Adv Mudenda underscored that ideology is the guiding compass that defines what the party stands for and how it relates to the people.
“Without ideological clarity, our structures become hollow, our programmes lose direction and our members become vulnerable to political manipulation,” he said.
“It is, therefore, essential that every provincial structure imbibes the party’s ideology and is able to translate it into a lived experience.”
Adv Mudenda and his delegation have so far conducted four Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) outreach programmes in Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Harare provinces.
He highlighted that both the PCCs and the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) must place political education and ideological orientation at the centre of their work.
Every party cadre must understand the history of the party, said Adv Mudenda.
“They should appreciate the values of the liberation struggle, the principles of nationalism, Pan-Africanism, and the contemporary policy direction of the party.
“We should ensure that new members are not only recruited or converted in numbers, but are fully convinced that a cadre is loyal, disciplined and capable of defending the party in all circumstances.
“A poorly oriented cadre, on the other hand, becomes a weak link within our structures,” he added.
The Harare Provincial outreach programme was attended by several prominent figures, including Zanu PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, Treasurer General Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Secretary for Education, Research and Ideology Cde Charles Tawengwa, Secretary for War Veterans Cde Douglas Mahiya, Politburo member Cde Omega Hungwe, Deputy Secretary for Security Cde Tendai Chirau, and Harare Provincial chairman Cde Godwills Masimirembwa.
