THE Zimbabwe Antí-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has warned members of the public to be vigilant against highway imposters claiming to be members of the graft body on an operation.
In a statement, Zacc Commissioner, Kindness Paradza said there’s no operation of that nature being conducted, warning the imposters that the law will descend on them.
“It has come to the attention of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) that there are individuals posing as officials from the Commission along the country’s major highways, claiming to be enforcing an anti-smuggling operation.
The Commission is not involved in any operation of this nature. These imposters are not only acting illegally but are also fleecing Zimbabweans of their hard-earned cash through extortion and tarnishing the reputation of legitimate law enforcement agencies,” said Comm Paradza.
He said the anti-graft body was warning the individuals to cease the activities immediately as anyone found impersonating law officers will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
“The Commission also advises the public to be vigilant, demand identification, verify identity, not offer bribes and report suspicious activity.
The public is advised to report any encounter with individuals claiming to be ZACC officials on the country’s major highways,” said Comm Paradza.
