Be warned, police tell would-be rapists

POLICE Women’s Network yesterday warned men abusing children and raping women that they would be brought to justice.

The network distributed fliers in Harare where they warned would-be offenders that the law will catch up with them.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said cases of abuse of minor children and rape increased in the past months.

“Police Women’s Network is carrying out awareness campaigns against gender-based violence,” said Insp Chakanza.

“Among the issues are early child marriages, rape and drug abuse.

“Their message is clear that anyone caught abusing children, engaging in child marriages and raping women will not be spared from facing justice.

“Women have been urged to avoid illegal transport operators since most rapes involve mushikashikas,” said Insp Chakanza.
