Beach Soccer Zimbabwe (BSZ) recently hosted a highly successful coaching clinic in Hwange, aimed at developing the sport at the grassroots level and equipping local coaches with the skills needed to nurture talent.
The clinic, conducted by BSZ Board Member for Technical and Development, Chris Nhapi, and former Young Warriors coach, Weekly Mwale, has been widely praised for its impact and professionalism.
The five-day course held at a local sports facility attracted 20 males and 17 female participants, including teachers, coaches, players, and sports enthusiasts from across the region.
The diverse group was taken through intensive training sessions covering the fundamentals of beach soccer, including techniques, tactics, and fitness drills tailored to the unique demands of the sport. The clinic also emphasised the importance of youth development and the role of coaches in shaping the future of beach soccer in Zimbabwe.
Chris Nhapi, a seasoned football administrator and technical expert in beach soccer, expressed delight at the turnout and enthusiasm of the participants.

“The response from the Hwange community has been overwhelming. Beach soccer is a fast-growing sport globally, and it’s exciting to see Zimbabweans embracing it with such passion. This clinic is just the beginning of our efforts to spread the game across the country,” Nhapi said.
Weekly Mwale, renowned for his coaching expertise and experience with the Young Warriors and Hwange Football Club, shared his insights on player development and the tactical nuances of beach soccer.
“The beauty of beach soccer lies in its simplicity and dynamism. It’s a game that requires quick thinking, agility, and teamwork. Our goal is to empower local coaches with the knowledge to develop players who can compete on both the national and international stages,” Mwale remarked.
Participants lauded the clinic for its practical approach and the expertise of the facilitators.
“This has been an eye-opening experience. I’ve learned so much about the technical aspects of beach soccer and how to train players effectively. I’m excited to take this knowledge back to my community,” said one of the attendees.
The Hwange clinic is part of Beach Soccer Zimbabwe’s broader strategy to promote the sport and identify talent in underserved regions. BSZ has plans to roll out similar initiatives in other parts of the country, with the aim of establishing a robust pipeline of players and coaches.
