Beach volleyball squad in Games preps

Sports Reporter
THE Zimbabwe beach volleyball team will go into camp at Masarakufa in Mashonaland East tomorrow to prepare for the African Games set for Congo-Brazzaville next month. The squad was supposed to camp in Maputo, Mozambique, but had to settle for Mashonaland East due to a shortage of funds.Mxolisi Ndlovu, Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) treasurer, said the alternative venue was similar to the Mozambican facility.

“The venue still has the same conditions, although we would’ve loved to camp in Maputo. We would’ve loved to camp near the sea, but we appreciate the substitute venue as it also allows us to cut on expenses,” said Ndlovu.

He said they had managed to maximise their training sessions by taking advantage of the holidays. The team holds its training sessions at the nearby riverbed.
