Asking her husband to reveal secret communication with their maid landed her thorough beating. A MAN from Mutare’s Westlea medium-density suburb teamed up with his son to assault his daughter-in-law with a belt resulting in her bleeding profusely from her private parts has been convicted and fined by a senior magistrate.
Langton Chendapuhwa Njerere (63) and Hazvinei Langton Njerere (35), both pleaded guilty to assaulting Georgina Mufakose (22) when they appeared before Mrs Sekai Chiundura.
Mufakose is wife to Hazvinei, while Langton Chendapuhwa Njerere is her father-in-law.
Representing the State was Mr Fletcher Karombe.
On March 1, 2016, Mufakose asked her husband to reveal what he had whispered to their maid sometime before, an action that lead to a misunderstanding between the two.
“In the middle of the scuffle, Hazvinei assaulted his wife by kicking her. Mufakose ran away and came back home at around 10pm on that same day in the company of her aunt, Jane Pokai to resolve the matter. Her father-in-law however, would not hear of a runaway daughter in-law. When she arrived, he removed his belt and assaulted her several times all over her body,” said Mr Karombe
He said Njerere grabbed his daughter-in-law and put her in his car while his son tied her hands before they drove her to her rural place in Wedza where they dumped her.
As a result of the assault, Mufakose sustained head injuries and also complained of bleeding from her private parts.
They were both ordered to pay $70 fine by March 31.
