A STEAMY night of booze and passion ended in a courtroom drama, with a Bulawayo woman standing trial for stealing and wrecking a US$70,000 luxury ride!
Sikhosini Dube (25) had the gallery in stitches and at some points elicited gasps of disbelief after being dragged before Bulawayo magistrate Sibonginkosi Mnkandla, accused of stealing a Toyota Tundra belonging to a man she had just met — and slept with — hours earlier.
In a twist worthy of a soapie, Dube defended herself by claiming the car came with the pleasures of the night.

“He gave me permission… after the deed, I could do as I pleased,” she boldly told the court, shocking many with her bizarre defence.

Prosecutor Nomthandazo Mafu said the farce occurred on the night of 15 July after Dube and Denzel Mwampokolo, the managing director of Siboza Shipping International, spent the evening drinking at his home.

Mwampokolo testified that he had just met Dube earlier that day while she was buying airtime. After a whirlwind of alcohol-fueled bonding, six Savannas and a bottle of Hennessy later, they ended up in bed.

But while he slept off the liquor, Dube allegedly helped herself to his car keys, house keys, and a fat wallet containing US$1 000, before fleeing in his brown Toyota Tundra (AGV2501).
The wild ride didn’t last long.
Dube allegedly smashed into Mwampokolo’s precast wall and then ploughed into a streetlight at Fort Street and Leopold Takawira Avenue, wrecking the front suspension, all without a driver’s licence.

CID detective Fanuel Nkomo testified that after receiving a tip-off during his night shift, he traced the wrecked vehicle and linked the chaos to Dube. He later found her at Mwampokolo’s home, still in possession of the car keys and house keys. She reportedly turned violent during the arrest, forcing police to issue a seizure form the next day.

In court, Dube claimed cops beat and threatened her while demanding the missing US$1 000.
She was remanded in custody and is expected back in court on Wednesday for sentencing.
