Beer drinker stones brother

A GWANDA man who struck his brother with a stone on the face for drinking his beer, will perform 140 hours of community service.

Bhekumuzi Nyathi, 34, of Betsa area in Guyu who struck his brother, Mlamuleli 31, was convicted on his on plea by Arafat Kozanai yesterday.

He was sentenced to six months imprisonment of which two months were suspended for five years on condition he does not commit a similar offence within that period.

The remaining four months were suspended on condition that he performs 140 hours of community service at Betsa Primary School starting on January 12, 2016.

Prosecuting, Moses Gondongwe said the incident happened on December 23, this year when the two brothers were on their way home from Garanyemba business centre when a misunderstanding arose between them.

“Nyathi accused his brother of drinking his beer,” the court was told.

“The accused person then picked a stone and hit the complainant once on the face. The complainant remained silent and later made a report to the police,” said Gondongwe.

Mlamuleli sustained a cut above his left eye.
