BEERHALL BLOODBATH! Triangle man gets 5 years for stabbing woman in neck after slap fight

Bmetro Reporter
A TRIANGLE villager will spend 1 year behind bars after a drunken argument at a Chiredzi beerhall turned deadly—all starting with a slap that sparked a stab.

Jordan Mandava, of Village 12 Masimbaevanhu, was sentenced to 5 years (with 3 suspended) for culpable homicide after retaliating against a woman who repeatedly slapped him during a heated dispute.

The High Court in Masvingo heard how the victim—whose name was withheld— struck Mandava multiple times at the bar on 28 April 2023. Moments later, he confronted her, pulled a blade, and plunged it into her neck before fleeing the scene.

Despite the fatal attack, Mandava dodged a murder charge as he was charged with culpable homicide—and will serve just 12 months in prison after another year was suspended from the sentence.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) warned: “Violence solves nothing.”
