Behold the power of perception

THE Lord says: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:19.

This scripture beautifully captures the power of perception in relation to God’s work in our lives. It reminds us that God is constantly at work, bringing forth new beginnings and creating paths where none seem to exist.

The key question posed in the verse — “do you not perceive it?” — is a gentle push for us to open our eyes to the possibilities God is unfolding.

Perception significantly shapes how we interpret and respond to life’s events. It influences our attitudes, beliefs and actions. Our perspective on “wilderness” and “wasteland” moments is crucial.

Through faith, we can recognise God’s hand at work during these times. The scripture emphasises spiritual perception — the ability to discern God’s presence and activity. It encourages us to cultivate a perception accustomed to God’s work, even in unexpected places.

This allows us to see beyond immediate circumstances and envision the new things God is creating. Essentially, Isaiah 43:19 invites us to embrace a perception aligned with God’s promises and faithfulness. It encourages us to perceive the “new thing” God is doing and anticipate His provision in unlikely situations.

When our perception is rooted in faith, we approach life’s challenges with hope and expectation, knowing God is making a way.

Therefore, let us cultivate a faith-based perception to discern God’s transformative work and faithfulness in every season. God is always at work, even in desolate places. Believing in His promises opens us to the new things He is doing.

Choosing to believe is powerful. In a world of doubt and negativity, it takes courage to believe in something greater than ourselves. It requires seeing ourselves as God sees us — beloved children worthy of His love and grace.

Mark 9:23 reminds us: “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Faith moves mountains. Believing in God’s limitless power opens us to miracles. Choosing to believe is not easy. It requires faith in the unseen and trust in God’s timing.

Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we cannot see. This encourages us to hold onto faith, even in bleak circumstances. When we choose to believe, we choose confidence in God’s promises and assurance of His love. So, my dear brothers and sisters, choose to believe.

Go against doubt and fear. See yourself as God sees you. As we journey through life, we should hold fast to our faith and trust in the power of believing.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all. Amen!
