This year’s Beitbridge International Festival of Arts will be held from October 23 to 25, at Pagomba Cafe. The festival, which is in its second year, will run under the theme “Unleash the Creativity”.
Event organiser, Nkulelo Nkala said the theme is meant to encourage artistes to produce quality products.

“The theme seeks to encourage all artists to have quality in their  products,” he said.

Preparations have already started and organisers are calling for entries.

“We are calling on artistes to send through their applications, the format is there on our website (www.beitbridgefest.com) and on our Facebook page.

“This year we plan to do many things better as we are already engaging possible partners to make the event a success,” said Nkala.

Nkala also said the festival is not only about entertaining audience but rather about encouraging artistes to live happily as it is a way of giving them some inner strength.

The inaugural BIFA was successful because of the assistance they got from organisations like Pagomba Café and Purple Hearts, ZITA, Culture Fund and Hivos.

Some of the acts that performed last year include popular dance troupe Iyasa, Willis Wattafi, Clement Magwaza, Professor, Dr Malinga and sungura maestro Alick Macheso.

The festival was founded by Nkala and seeks to promote local artists based in and around Beitbridge to exploit their talent.
