Beitbridge town secretary Dr Sipho Singo has died.
He was 56.
Dr Singo succumbed to heart failure at Polokwane General Hospital in South Africa on Saturday morning.
Beitbridge town council director of administration Mr Mbongeleni Muleya said Dr Singo had been battling the heart problem for some time.
He said the town clerk’s condition deteriorated last Friday night resulting in him being taken to Musina Hospital on Saturday morning where he was referred for further attention at Polokwane General Hospital.

“Unfortunately he died upon admission. His body is still in South Africa and we are expecting it today (Yesterday). He will be buried at his farm in Mazunga on Saturday morning,” he said. Mr Muleya said they would hold a memorial service at 10am at Purple Heart Hall.
“This is a sad loss to the council and residents of Beitbridge. We have lost a key figure who had a vision of transforming Beitbridge Town into a medium modern city.”
