BELARUS has congratulated Zimbabwe on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council during elections that were held in New York, USA, last week.
Zimbabwe received 182 out of the 190 votes cast.
The congratulatory message was delivered by Belarus Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Yuri Nikalaichyk, after paying a courtesy call on Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, at his offices at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.
“I conveyed to the Honourable Speaker and in his person to the people of Zimbabwe, congratulations on the occasion of the election of Zimbabwe to the Security Council of the United Nations and Belarus is proud that we firmly supported this bid,” he said.
“We are also proud that Zimbabwe gained almost 100 percent support during the voting in the UN General Assembly.”
