Renowned sculptor Dominic Benhura will exhibit his masterpieces beginning today at the Harare International Conference Centre as part of the three-day Good Living Expo which will be spiced up by guest appearances by upcoming musicians.
However, the show curated by Benhura himself will feature mostly opal stones, spring stones and dolomite from other top sculptors and one or two of his own pieces.
“Well it is not my show per se but what I have done since I’m, the curator of the show, was to bring breathtaking pieces from sculptors from the studio (Dominic Studio in Greendale) that will be show,” Benhura said.

Artists to be featured include Stanford Derere, Eddie Masaya, Tendai Mutinhima, Godfrey Marufu, Cosmas Chifamba and Arthur Fata among others.
The sculptors who represent a cross section of some of the finest artists are likely to captivate the show goers with their brilliant installations.

Recently, Benhura’s sculptures were featured on the UNICEF 2014 calendar which in itself is a collector’s item since he launched his career in the 1990s.
Unlike the first generation sculptors who thrived on spirituality in their creative space, Benhura draws inspiration from living things and life in general.

His creativity does not limit him to one medium but he likes to experiment with other media including glass and metal for his sculptures.
Born in Zimbabwe in 1968, Dominic is one of the pioneering sculptors of Zimbabwe, well recognised by the strong linear composition of his works. After joining a resident artist program of Harare in 1990, he progressively moved on to larger sculptures, working with both metal and stone.

Through the years, Dominic has helped to transform Shona sculpture into a world class modern art, exhibiting his works at major venues such as the EXPO ‘92 in Sevilla, EXPO 2000 in Hannover, the Yorkshire Sculpture Garden (UK), the Millesgarten Museum (Sweden) and in 2008 the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden (Holland).

The Good Living Expo is set to showcase kitchens, bathrooms, lighting, solar, generators, tech, building, construction, weddings, events, beauty and much more.
There will be lots of fun, prizes galore and competitions as well as live entertainment.

Musicians billed to perform include the likes of Gary Tight, Desire (Pop,Cover Songs), Extreme Passion and RnB,Afro Jazz group, Mushy (RnB), Malax & Afro Blacks Family featuring Tinoo , Reno who sings Bob Marley covers, Royal Legacy, Benita (Gonambira) and a jazz outfit called Khuku Bakasa.
