Bruce Chikuni recently in BULAWAYO
NGEZI Platinum came back from the mid-season break firing on all cylinders as they blew away Bulawayo City’s four-game unbeaten streak with a 3-0 victory at Barbourfields over the weekend.
Madamburo earned their goals through the trio of Denver Mukamba, Bruno Mtigo and Delic Murimba.
Ironically, Mtigo had last scored against the same side, in the reverse fixture.
The two sides created and missed chances in the first half.
But, it was Ngezi, who came back for the final 45 minutes, with more determination.
Mukamba struck with a brilliantly taken free-kick, which gave City ‘keeper Reward Muza, no chance.
Mtigo, did justice to Anelka Chivandire’s fine cross, with a glancing header.
Murimba rounded off the scoring to take his tally to five goals.
The club’s gaffer, Benjani Mwaruwari, was impressed by his troops.
“I’m really happy with how the boys responded, especially after enduring a bad first round of the season,” said Benjani.
“It was a great victory, as I had highlighted ahead of the game that we need our strike force to bring some light to our campaign and they were all on the scoresheet.
“I took so many positives from this match, it wasn’t easy but the boys showed character in holding on, even when the game was still balanced.”
Former Warriors’s anchorman, Danny “Deco” Phiri, is believed to be training with the club.
The Undertaker, refused to reveal his desired targets.
“Yes, we are certainly going to beef up a little bit, we are going to take some from our developmental side and maybe a few from other clubs.
“We are looking for a natural holding midfielder, and I feel that’s the area we have been struggling with.
“At the moment I can’t reveal much but time will reveal everything.”
Mukamba is now being linked with a reunion with Rodwell Dhlakama at ZPC Kariba.
