Benjani Mwaruwari hits a Platinum jackpot

FIFA has ruled that Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Ngezi Platinum Stars must pay EX Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari US$600 000 for unfair dismissal.

That’s a huge amount for any domestic club.

On top of that, last year in September, FIFA also ordered Ngezi Platinum to pay Bongani Mafu who served as Mwaruwari’s assistant, US$200 000 for a similar unlawful termination of contract.

Mwaruwari and Mafu were both dismissed in 2022, just months into their tenure.

Mwaruwari and Mafu lasted only 13 games. They won three games, drew six and lost four.

Madamburo have been given just 45 days to pay Mwaruwari or they will be slapped with a FIFA transfer ban.
