Bennett in Paris countdown

Sarah Bennett and Kays Kanyangarara have vowed to represent the country with pride after they were named among the hockey technical officials at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which begin in 10 days.

The Olympics will run from July 26 to August 11 and the hockey competitions are scheduled for July 27 to August 9.

Bennett will be at the games as an official for the second time after attending the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in that capacity.

The two were appointed as part of the technical officials last year and as the countdown to the Games continues, Bennett, who is also the Hockey Association of Zimbabwe secretary general, says they will do their best to represent the country.

“To be appointed to officiate at the Paris Olympics is an absolute honour and privilege. The Paris Olympics will be a whole different experience for me, having officiated at the Tokyo Olympics under Covid-19 restrictions,” she said.

“There is a team of 14 technical officials from around the world who will work together to ensure a successful tournament. The officials will work across both the women’s and men’s tournaments.

“Kays and I will do our utmost to ensure that we both deliver a professional performance of the highest standard and represent Zimbabwe with pride.”
