REAL Betis Academy has opened an opportunity for other football academies to provide players who will be part of their Under-21 side set to tour South Africa next week.
The Academy will play the Under-21 sides of Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Jomo Cosmos.
The tour will run from December Sunday to the following Sunday.
Real Betis Academy Zimbabwe chairman, Gerald Sibanda, says they will be picking players from other teams in their final squad.
“The Betis Under-21 team will consist of 80 percent of our outstanding Under-21 players and we have a few spots where we have selected players from our fellow academy partners and counterparts whom we have been playing against throughout the year.
“Real Betis is here to work with all Zimbabweans and the selection criteria shows our commitment to developing the game in marginalised areas, in this nation and beyond the region of Africa,” said Sibanda
The academy is marking its third year of existence.
“As we mark three years in beautiful Zimbabwe, we are delighted to be participating in a first-class tour against reserve sides of professional clubs in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League.
“No doubt, our highlight of the tour will be our friendly matches against Mamelodi Sundowns as well as Supersport United and Jomo Cosmos,” said Sibanda.
Johannes Ngodzo, Gift Lunga (Jnr) and Tichaona Diya have been entrusted with the coaching jobs at the academy.
This will be Real Betis Academy’s second major tour.
They toured Spain last year.
