The festival, which started at 7pm and lasted 12 hours non-stop, lived up to its billing.
However, violence reared its ugly head when Bev allegedly traded insults with an ex-member of her group.
The dancer was only identified as Mercy.
The scuffle, according to witnesses, lasted more than five minutes. Mercy was floored but the security at the joint intervened.
Pictures of the brawl were yesterday circulating on social networks.
Bev yesterday became offensive after being contacted for comment accusing The Herald of writing negative stories about her.
“Ndanga ndisiko and besides ndakatozvirarira zvangu. (I wasn’t there and I am sleeping.)
“Why is it that you always want to write negative stories about me?” she said.
She subsequently switched off her mobile phone.
Her manager, Harpers Mapimhidze, confirmed Bev performed at the festival.
“It was a massive festival and Bev did what she knows best,” he said.
Mapimhidze, however, professed ignorance over the reported scuffle.
He said the bar was too full for him to notice the fight.
“I didn’t see that because I was busy backstage organising the dancers,” he said. Biggie Chinoperekwei, the organiser of the dance fiesta, said there were bound to be fights whenever the dancers meet.
“This is what happens whenever dance groups meet.
“At times they exchange harsh words, confront each other or even go physical.
“On this particular show I didn’t see the incident, however, we don’t condone such behaviour,” Chinoperekwei said.
He said the annual dance festival was held in January to scout for new groups that they would give a contract for the year.
Each of the upcoming groups performs at least two songs while the established ones perform four songs.
The best groups will be given contracts to perform at different clubs which are operated by Chinoperekwei in Harare.
