Chronicle EditorHer sister is arguably the most famous woman in the world but there’s no bitterness or sibling rivalry between Solange and Beyonce Knowles, in fact, she can’t stop singing her global superstar of a sister’s praises.The 27-year-old singer and actress is ASOS magazine’s latest cover star and opens up about her sister’s work ethic.
She said: “I have never seen anything like it in my life, from anyone. It’s absolutely insane.
“Now that she’s become a mother, and the way that she’s able to balance that is so inspiring, if I am ever feeling like I want to open up my mouth and complain about how hard I am working, I think, ‘Uhhh! Sit down!”’.
Interviewed and shot in her hometown of New Orleans by photographer Ben Sullivan, Solange looks effortlessly cool as she showcases the best of ASOS’ high summer range.
Solange, who says she is heavily influenced by Motown girl groups, has been recognised as a fashion icon and even has her own range of hip-hop-oriented merchandise for children, which was inspired by her son.
Speaking about her personal style, she says: “I might be having a little evolution in my style . . . it’s been a lot more subtle. I had a bit of print fatigue, it’s been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember.
“But you want to evolve and experiment – that’s part of the fun and the joy of being a woman.”
Solange may not be quite in the same league as her superstar sister, who was just named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people, but she clearly aspires to match her work ethic in her own way.
In 2011, she was announced as the face of Rimmel and in 2012, she became Vogue.com’s” Today I’m Wearing” guest blogger sharing a photograph of her outfits daily for a month. – AFP.
