AFRO-JAZZ musician Maluka continues to grow his solo brand as he prepares for his debut gig in Harare, where he will perform at the Jacaranda Music Festival, slated for October 2 to 4.
Maluka is a member of Indosakusa: The Morning Star, a group that helped mould his solo career and propel him to stardom.
At this year’s Jacaranda Fest, Maluka will perform on the second day of the festival alongside fellow citymen Msiz’kay and Kotwane Hikwa. They will share the stage with Sylent Nqo, Feli Nandi, Njelic, Mr JazziQ, Calequi Y Las Panteras, Nasibo, Junior Spragga and Spirit Chronicles, Taku Made The Beat, DJ Tatz Bless and Mwendamberi.
Maluka said he was happy that his solo ventures had earned him an opportunity to perform on an internationally recognised stage.
“It’s my first time performing at the festival as well as my first time performing in Harare. I am very excited to be on that line-up; it’s one of the biggest festivals here in Zimbabwe. I’m so happy and grateful for the opportunity.
“I will perform with Mwendamberi’s band, which is based in Harare. Rehearsals are ongoing as we speak, and I will be joining them early next week to do the final touches. I will be performing some of the songs from a new production that I’m working on, so people should tighten their dancing shoes because it’s going to be fireworks,” said Maluka.
