Beyond the Crown: Miss Zimbabwe School of Mines forms dance to uplift her community

REIGNING Miss Zimbabwe School of Mines, Kudazi Moleen Masoka, is not just a beauty queen but also a visionary leader, determined to uplift her community.

In a remarkable initiative, she has founded a vibrant dance group,ZSM Dance Group aimed at revitalising the social fabric of the mining community.

This dynamic project seeks to tackle social issues, promotes cultural exchange, and fosters community engagement.

“I founded the ZSM Dance Group to address the mining industry’s limited social life. Our group enriches residents’ lives by providing a creative outlet, promoting cultural exchange, and fostering community engagement. Through dance, we bridge gaps between miners, students, and local residents,” said Kudzai.

The dance group actively participates in local school events, performing to entertain, educate, and inspire students.

“We promote arts education, teamwork, and community values,” she added.

The initiative tackles social issues like substance abuse, peer pressure, and mental health.

“We convey messages of hope, resilience, and positivity through dance. I’ve observed improved self-esteem, teamwork, and social skills among members,” said Kudzai.

Despite securing funding and recruitment challenges, the group plans to sustain and grow through partnerships with local businesses, schools, and organizations.

“Dance is my passion, and community development is my purpose.

“As Miss Zimbabwe School of Mines, I aim to empower youth, promote cultural heritage, and foster social responsibility,” she said.
The dance group’s message is one of hope, unity, and creativity.

“We invite others to join us by attending performances, volunteering, or sponsoring our events,” she said.
