THE African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) has confirmed the appointment of Mr Justin Bgoni as its Vice-President, effective 2 October 2026.
ASEA confirmed Mr Bgoni’s appointment in a statement on Monday.
“The African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) has officially announced the appointment of Mr. Justin Bgoni as its Vice President, effective October 2, 2026.”
Mr Bgoni is the Group Chief Executive Officer of ZSE Holdings, where he oversees the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE), the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) and the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange (ZEEX).
He is also interim CEO of the Victoria Falls International Financial Centre.
ASEA said his election to executive leadership comes as member exchanges across the continent deepen collaboration, enhance inter-exchange liquidity and advocate for seamless cross-border investment frameworks.
Working alongside the newly appointed leadership, Mr Bgoni will help guide ASEA’s strategic objectives to scale African capital markets globally and leverage technology-driven market infrastructure.
The appointment is seen as a major vote of confidence in Zimbabwe’s capital markets and in Mr Bgoni’s leadership.
He brings over 24 years of extensive international finance, management and executive leadership experience, having held prominent roles in Zimbabwe, South Africa and New Zealand.
His career highlights include serving as Chief Financial Officer of the New Zealand Stock Exchange, management consultant at McKinsey and Company, and Director of Private Equity at FNB.
“I am deeply honoured to step into the role of Vice-President of the African Securities Exchanges Association,” said Mr Bgoni.
“Capital markets have a pivotal role to play in unlocking economic growth, facilitating sustainable investments, and strengthening regional connectivity across Africa. I look forward to working closely with our President, member exchanges, and regional partners to accelerate capital mobility and deliver tailored financial infrastructure solutions that meet Africa’s distinct market opportunities.”
Mr Bgoni is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
He holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science (cum laude) from UNISA and a Master in Finance (cum laude) from the University of Wellington, New Zealand.
ASEA is the premier association of securities exchanges in Africa, dedicated to promoting mutual cooperation, expanding capital market infrastructure and facilitating cross-border investment across the continent.
The association said it remains focused on deepening integration among African exchanges.
