Bhila ready to rock Harare, Mthabisi Tshuma
BULAWAYO-based award-winning musician Bhila has revealed that he is ready to make his maiden live appearance in Harare, as he is billed to headline this year’s Shoko Festival Mash Up Night on September 25.
For Bhila, the show is more than just another gig as it is a chance to take his Bhila brand beyond Bulawayo and introduce his sound to a new audience.

The Mash Up Night will bring together established Zim Hip Hop names and emerging urban acts, continuing Shoko Festival’s tradition of celebrating Zimbabwe’s urban culture and fresh talent.
Bhila, Saintfloew and Xiba will be making their debut appearances at the event and will share the stage with Supermuno, Millz Million, Easy Ice, Luigi Badgenna and Hooksmith.
Bhila said he was excited, at the same time nervous, about finally getting the opportunity to perform in Harare.

“It feels great. From the start of the year, I have been intentional in expanding my craft beyond Bulawayo. I am super excited and nervous at the same time that such a thing is low key happening. I have always dreamnt of growing the Bhila brand to an international market and this is just the start of it,” he said.
The musician said landing a spot at Shoko Festival was a dream that had taken him several attempts to realise.

“I received an email from Shoko Festival. I have been applying for to be considered as a performer at the festival since I started doing music in 2023, as I believed I had what it takes to be part of the event.
“Finally this year they saw it fit and necessary to give me an opportunity in the capital. I pray and hope that this gig will open so many doors for me,” he said.
Bhila, who has carved a niche with his distinctive Afro-soul sound, promised Harare music lovers a performance packed with energy and sing-along moments.
“Attendees should expect a different sound, good energy and beautiful music that is very easy to sing along to and enjoy. I will be there to have fun and connect with people from Harare through my music,” he said.
