In today’s world we don’t see us we see others, aspire to be exactly like them and even think that being attractive is the key that opens all doors in life.
As youth nowadays most of us have the mind of “if I could look that smart, if I could have that and this, if I could live that lifestyle”, similarly we become unhappy with the way we look and we compare our looks with other individuals because media, society, make-up and clothing companies, even being like a soap company have taught us that the way we look will never be sufficient.
Before or even upon entering University both girls and boys become more obsessed with their appearance but this shouldn’t be taken as “vanity”.
The society ideology is that enticing students have intelligence, confidence, moral virtue and good social skills, hence everyone in varsity wants to look as good as they can be believing it will boost their talents and performance.
It is no surprise that most students at tertiary institutions are more concerned about gaining physical attraction over academic achievements but one has to ask, does “bias- beauty” come with brains?.
Female students tend to turn to light skin products and even males do it too nowadays.
Also use steroids to promote muscle growth but more concerning is the use of seeds, powder by females to grow their hips and booties not knowing these product can cause infertility, abnormal hips and in cases of an accident, a person who has used light skinning product becomes difficult to repair their skin.
They become addictive also in the sense that once the hips start growing, one has to keep drinking in order to maintain the body and muscles they developing.
Some suffer a lot because of the pressure they put themselves in maintaining their appearance by wanting “summer bodies or bodies of a model” to woe guys who can spoil them and give them the best time while in Varsity, in order to achieve this they starve themselves and major blow is that they become dehydrated and end up collapsing in the middle of a lecture, get headaches and lose concentration or even worse faint in an exam and sometimes end-up in a hospital suffering from anorexia.
Most dissatisfaction for female students is not particularly on their faces but on the size and shape of their bodies, skin tone, hips, waists and thighs.
The best way to lose weight and have a good figure body is to do work outs (gym) and even home exercises.
One has to also note that there are attractive people whom are naturally academically gifted “the born bright” and trying to change your appearance to be like them won’t increase one’s IQ but it will only bring more distractions, only hard work and dedication can improve your performance.
In higher learning institutions, self-confidence is all that one should possess and not feel challenged by someone who’s looking more attractive than them.
Just love your skin, your body, focus on your studies and after-all we are all beautiful in our own way.
