Following the ravaging fire that burnt a boy’s dormitory leaving 52 form one pupils stranded at Brethren In Christ Church (BICC) run Matopo High School, the church has donated a pair of school uniforms to all the affected boys and is appealing for donations.
The BICC Administrative secretary Dr Mndlenkosi Mkhize revealed this during an interview on the sidelines of the commissioning of the BICC Nguboyenya branch pastor Zibusiso Ndlovu. Dr Mkhize said after visiting the school to assess the situation the BICC board decided to chip in with school uniforms donations.
“It’s a touching situation because the boy’s uniforms, trunks, food, books and clothes were burnt to ashes and they were left with nothing. After that, the BICC board decided to donate a pair of school uniforms to all the 52 boys,” he said.
Dr Mkhize appealed for donations.
“We are appealing for donations whether in material,” he said.
Dr Mkhize said arrangements have been made with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to offer counselling to affected learners and teachers.
“The situation left the boys traumatised as such we have made arrangements with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for them to offer counselling sessions to the affected learners and teachers,” he said.
