A BID by four suspected murderers to cleanse the stain of a murder they committed backfired on Sunday when they were arrested at a witchdoctor’s house in Kwekwe.
They were at the house for a cleansing ceremony.
At least three knives − Columbian knife, a VI pin stainless steel kitchen knife and an okapi knife − were used in the murder.
Learnmore Chiribani, 28, Archford Dube, 20, Marshal Chuma, 19 and Marvellous Kuchicha, 19, were arrested following a tip-off to the police.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the four were suspected of having committed the murder at a night club in Silobela last Friday.
“Ernest Moyo, 28, died after being stabbed with knives indiscriminately over an undisclosed issue.
“The arrest of the four suspects led to the recovery of a Columbian knife, a VI pin stainless steel kitchen knife and an okapi knife which were stashed in a plastic bag under a block brick behind the witchdoctor’s house,” said Asst CommNyathi.
In a similar case, Asst Comm Nyathi said police in Zvishavane arrested Maphios Mativenga, 40, in connection with a case in which Simbarashe Moyo was found dead in a Honda Fit motor vehicle which was parked at a deserted home in Mudereri Village, under Chief Masunda.
He said the suspect had accused the victim of having an affair with his wife before he assaulted him.
