Prosecutor Ms Concelia Maheya said that on April 5 this year, at around 1.10am, Constable Liberty Takazira of Zengeza Police Station was on patrol at Chikwanha New Market in the company of his workmates Constables Nyamututa and Hove.
As they were cycling, they came across a lorry that was parked at Chikwanha shops offloading firewood. Constable Takazira cycled and parked his bicycle in front of the lorry.
Upon seeing the police, Sibanda is alleged to have quickly jumped into the vehicle, took to the driver’s seat and maneuvered the vehicle towards Constable Takazira.
Constable Takazira managed to dodge the vehicle, but his bicycle was crushed.
His accomplices chased Sibanda, with Constable Nyamututa jumping into the vehicle while in motion and signalled him to stop.
Sibanda complied, but disembarked and took to his heels.
The three officers then went after him and apprehended him.
