Bikita Minerals stay calm as PSL beckons

For Bikita Minerals, life in the Eastern Region Division One league has been a roller coaster full of emotions, just like a swing they have been up and down.

In their first opening three games they found themselves placed in the bottom three after they had lost all their games.

By then they were nowhere near the favourite tag but in sport what matters the most is how you finish.

With two games to go, Bikita Minerals are now log leaders and have the fate of gaining promotion in their own hands.

The Lithium boys are on 56 points and a point above second-placed FC Wangu Mazodze.

Third placed Tenax are also in the matrix of things with 53 points.

For Bikita Minerals, wins against Rusape-based Midway and an away win to Grayham will secure them a ticket in the topflight league next season.

Bikita Minerals chairman Mike Mushava believes they are still going to take every game as it comes.

He believes the slow start was because of the long break the team had due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“At the beginning of the season, we were aiming to be with the top guys.

“But we had one of the most difficult starts as we were coming from a long break after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It took us time to get into the groove till we learned and adapted to the trends of the game.

“Now we are not over-excited about where we are at the moment.

“As we have always done from day one we are taking every game as it comes.

“We want it done first then we can talk about the rest of the stuff. The reality is we have to win our last two games and as a club that is what we are looking for as it will see us rub shoulders with the big boys.”
