Bill shot down

Senate shot down a motion by Mr Gonese to have his Bill that sought to amend the Public Order and Security Act, be restored on the order paper after it was superseded by the prorogation of a Session of Parliament. The Bill had been transmitted to Senate after the House of Assembly passed it.

He said Senate had exercised its right to legitimately shoot down a motion by Mr Gonese to have the Bill restored on the order paper but the rejection did not constitute a disagreement between the two Houses. Mr Zvoma yesterday said there had been misinterpretation of the legal provision by the private media and organisations such as Veritas and Southern African Parliamentary Support Trust.
