A former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has come out with a message of calmness and solidarity amid talk of the threat posed by Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona in the upcoming World Cup qualifier.
South Africa have a do-or-die encounter against Zimbabwe lined up for tomorrow at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with a win set to bring them closer to a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
Following that clash, Bafana Bafana will then have Rwanda lying in wait on Tuesday at Mbombela Stadium.
Hugo Broos’ men sit second in Group C, behind Benin only on goal difference. Both teams have 14 points, with two fixtures left to play.
“We are still in control because both of these Bafana Bafana games are at ‘home’, and I believe we will win them without putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure,” said John Tlale, speaking to KickOff.com.
“Despite losing three points in our last game, I still believe the spirit within the team is very high. We will qualify.
“Although Relebohile Mofokeng and Iqraam Rayners might not be available, that’s the nature of a national team, not a club. We have enough players to fill their roles. There are no stars in the national team − all the players are among the best.
“Yes, the games are going to be tough, but Billiat and Musona may have already had their time. They might not be the same players they once were.
“They will give us a tough time, but at the end of the day, we will secure the three points,” he continued − Kick Off.
