Rising musician Tadiwa Moses eyes gospel breakthrough

FAST-RISING gospel musician Tadiwa Moses Tariro is confident his long-awaited breakthrough is within reach after following up his 2021 Starbrite victory with a first runner-up finish at the 2026 DreamStar Zimbabwe competition.

Having pursued music seriously since 2018, the Contemporary Christian R&B singer believes his latest achievement is a sign that he is ready to take his career to the next level and ultimately make a living from his craft.

The Starbrite 2021 winner said his journey began in church shortly after completing high school, before he ventured into recording and releasing his own music.

“I do Contemporary Christian R&B. I started singing soon after high school in 2018. It began in church and I recorded a few tracks that did well. In 2021, I entered national singing competition, Starbrite, and came in first place.

“Since then, I’ve been releasing music and working towards my big break. I’m blessed that DreamStar 2026 has also given me another opportunity to share my gift,” he said.

Tadiwa Moses draws inspiration from renowned vocalists and musicians including Brandy, Beyoncé, Takura and Sharon Manyonganise, citing their vocal ability and work ethic as major influences. However, he credits his parents as the foundation of his musical journey.

“I’m inspired by their vocal ability and work ethic. But most of all, I take after my parents. They were both singers and I’m blessed that they passed the singing gift on to me,” he said.

The musician has already released an album, The Beginnings, which is available on streaming platforms. The nine-track project chronicles his musical journey, with each song centred on lessons about human virtues.

He followed it up with his EP, My Abstract Cry, released on March 22, 2026. The project features Contemporary Christian R&B songs that explore his conversations and prayers with God.

Tadiwa Moses described his DreamStar achievement as an important validation of the work he has put into his career.
“I’m grateful for coming in as First Runner-Up at DreamStar 2026 as it is a huge confirmation for me. It shows that the hard work is paying off.

“Because I had won a competition before, I put a lot of pressure on myself to take first place, and that scared me. But I had to push through the fear. Another challenge was the different opinions on what I ‘should’ do. Learning to block out the noise and stay true to what I do best was liberating,” he said.

With the confidence gained from the competition, Tadiwa Moses is now setting his sights on expanding his catalogue, working with established musicians and taking his music beyond Zimbabwe.

“I plan to release new music and collaborate with some big names. I also hope to travel and do tours, including in China,” he said.
