Billiat on debut

Billiat has received rave reviews at his South African Premiership side.
And he took his fine form to national duty when he earned his first senior national team cap in the 2012 African Nations Cup Group A qualifier against Mali on Saturday.
The former Aces Youth Academy player controlled the left wing.
He changed the complexion of the game towards the end of the first half when he swapped positions with Benjamin Marere who was playing on the right wing.
Marere lacked co-ordination with his skipper Method Mwanjali.
“It was my first senior team game but I think I played well. I was very comfortable and never felt intimidated by the tall Malians,” said Billiat.
The Urban Warrior believes his dream debut for the senior will inspire him to work hard in future.
“I hope to play more games in future for the national team. Before coming into the senior team, I had played some games for the junior sides but I have now graduated,” he said.
Billiat was rested late in the second half for Ovidy Karuru but he had already made an impression on the wings.
“I am comfortable to play on either wing or I can play as a striker,” said Billiat.
Warriors coach Norman Mapeza also believes Billiat impressed on his first game.
“This shows the level of training that he is getting at Ajax. He played well and complimented Vusa although we had a problem on the right,” said Mapeza.
Marere missed the CHAN tournament in Sudan after getting injured and his long lay off could have affected his performance while the absence of Noel Kaseke in the right back was clearly felt. Mali, who draw most of their players from the French Ligue One, had a slight edge in tactical awareness.
“”We were marking the ball well but could not make use of the ball,” said Mapeza.
“Generally we have a good team but it was unfortunate that at times matches are decided by the referees in Africa.
“The referee killed us in the second half. We could have created few chances but the turning point could have been the penalty as Mushekwi was denied a goal-scoring opportunity.”
Gambian referee Bakary Gassama gave Edward Sadomba, Method Mwanjali, Mushekwi and Majabvi yellow cards in the second half where Zimbabwe were the better side while no Mali player was cautioned.
