Khama Billiat is reportedly out for the rest of the season due to injury.
The Kaizer Chiefs’ star underwent surgery to repair a torn groin muscle.
Chiefs’ physiotherapist, David Milner, revealed the news on the club’s website.
“Currently, our injury list consists of Khama Billiat, who had surgery to repair a torn groin muscle. He’ll be out for the rest of the season,” he said.
Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, who is under fire for dropping points in their goalless draw against TS Galaxy on Sunday, said they must soldier on without Khama and other injured players.
“We lost two of our right backs. Reeve (Frosler) has gone for an operation so he’s going to be out for at least six weeks. Khama (Billiat) has also undergone surgery, as has Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.
“We have never had such a situation in the team and it is quite disturbing,” he said.
“But it’s part of the game and we’re not going to dwell on it and complain. We still have playing personnel that can go out and execute the plan,” he said.
Billiat suffered the injury prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.
He started some light training a month ago, but aggravated the injury.
Khama made 11 appearances across all competitions this season, registering three assists.
Billiat also spent another spell on the side lines this season after a knee injury kept him out in September.
He missed four games before returning to action.
