Billiat survives car crash

MAMELODI Sundowns’ new signing Khama Billiat had a narrow escape at the weekend when his car crashed into a tree but he suffered only minor bruising, the club announced in a statement yesterday. The club’s doctor Carl Tabane said Billiat suffered minor bruises to his neck and chest but “should be back to full health in no time”.

But Sundowns have told him to rest up after the accident in which his car veered off the road and hit a tree.
He therefore misses the next Absa Premiership match against Free State Stars at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria tomorrow.

“We are glad to announce that Khama escaped the accident, which could have been worse considering that he avoided an oncoming car.
“Just as a precautionary measure the player has been given a few days off and will be further assessed when he returns to training on Tuesday,” said the club statement.

Billiat was a record-breaking signing for Sundowns in August and has made an impact already with three goals for his club this season.
The 23-year-old Zimbabwe international has made six starts for his new club. – Supersport.
