Billiat wants 15 goals

wants to continue from where he left off and score, at least, 15 goals for Ajax Cape Town.
Khaldinho told KickOff.com he wants to improve on the seven goals that he netted last season, and help Ajax achieve what they just missed out on last season – the League title.
“This season I see myself scoring more goals, my target would be 15 goals. This would help the team do better then last season,” he said confidently.
But Billiat will have to do without Thulani Serero, who has joined Ajax Amsterdam. Serero understood Billiat very well on the pitch, but the Zimbabwean feels that the team can move forward without their talisman.
“Thulani is a good player but now he’s not here anymore, so we must move forward as a team.
“We were very disappointed with what happened (losing the League) and the problem was that we didn’t travel well and that cost us the League.”
Ajax are looking to improve this season, and with a new coach in charge many players would like to impress and earn a starting berth.
“We know the coach and what he expects from us,” Billiat said.
“We know the style that he plays, and we understand it too. This season we’ll work harder and score more goals.”
Billiat could play alongside Benni McCarthy, who completed a training session with Ajax Cape Town yesterday, and said he was very grateful to the club for giving him the opportunity. While he has given no indication of whether the club is interested in signing him, he said he wanted to keep his options open, and that the decision would rest with them.
“At my age (33) it’s no longer about winning every cup and thing around, it’s more about lifestyle,” McCarthy said.
“But, I think I still have a lot to offer, especially to the youngsters, so maybe Ajax is an option, but it’s for management to decide.”
McCarthy says being away from South Africa for nearly 15 years has been difficult, and although he has interest from other clubs, the fact that his mother and his roots are in Cape Town are big factors in his future decisions.
“The lifestyle in Europe is great, especially in England, Spain, and Portugal,” the striker said.
“But for lifestyle, Cape Town is still top of my list – I mean, it’s sunny and it’s the middle of winter.
“I would love to come back to where it all started for me.”
On his fitness levels, McCarthy said: “I feel in good shape, but at 33 I know there are guys that are much faster than me. I just have to keep working hard.
“You know, being in Europe for so long, I’ve picked up a thing or two, so I really think I have something to offer,” he added.
McCarthy said he would never rule out a return to Bafana Bafana, but that he needs to get back into first team competitive football before he can push for national selection.
“I really want to find my love for football again, over the last while I felt maybe a bit distracted, but now I feel like I’m getting that love back,” he said.
“My lifestyle has changed especially after having kids, I am feeling more balanced and wiser, so I want to give back what I can to the city that gave me everything.”
Meanwhile, Bloemfontein Celtic have extended the trials of the TP Mazembe duo Christopher Semakweri and Darryl Nyandoro for another week.
The duo arrived in the country last week, and both Zimbabweans are reported to have impressed coach Clinton Larsen.
“Both players have done well, but unfortunately I have two spaces available for foreigners and will take only one as we are also expecting a striker from Ghana very soon,” said Larson, who refused to name the striker for fear the move may be hijacked. – KickOff.com.
