Deputy Minister Bimha said 3 000 people in Chikomba district were set to get jobs following Government’s approval of the Zimbabwe Iron and Steel and Essar Holdings of India deal.
“Cabinet recently approved the full implementation of the initial share and purchase agreement on a 54 percent to 46 percent basis and the transfer of ore deposits at Buchwa and Ripple Creek to Essar. The deal will see the continuation of activities towards the extraction of iron ore in the area,” he said.

Douglas Mombeshora said leading a nation was meaningless until resources were controlled by the majority.
“Leadership entails ownership of resources hence the government’s decision to promote the indigenous programme. Zimbabweans should control the land, water and minerals if they are to be truly independent.
“We got independence, then land, we have moved into mines and companies. . . Zimbabwe should be in control of these area,” he said.
“We are amazed when blacks like us say that no one will work with us if we indigenise our economy.
“We will, however, not stop those intending to work with us. The whites want to give us rules in our own country but Zanu-PF rejects that,” he said
